I know a lot of developers who are gamers (myself included) that love to play games in their spare time. With the direction the industry is going (towards VR and Augmented Reality goggles), here are a few things I’d love to see in the future…

InWin D-Frame mini

1. An increase in portable mini gaming PCs that can be easily brought to social gatherings. I think the introduction of Steam boxes is showing great promise in this area. However many of them are still lacking integrated handles for less cumbersome transport. It would be really nice to see more cases that are small and totable.

2. Wireless gaming peripherals. We’ve all seen gaming mice, headsets and gaming keypads/gameboards with the long USB cables. It’s 2015! Lets do away with the cords and go wireless. If a manufacturer could provide a wireless keypad, mouse and headset combo that I can throw in my bag and go, I’d be all over that.

3. Portable displays. One of the worst things about going to LAN party is lugging all your gear. It’d be awesome to have one less thing to carry. I’d love to see an increase in alternatives to monitors. Microsoft’s Hololens looks really promising but it’s taking a long time to mature. I’d really love to have a full featured 1080p 60 fps head mounted display. Something I can throw into a packpack and then hook into my PC to play a game. Some wireless action would be welcome in this space too! Maybe using technologies like 802.11ad (WiGig) or WIDI…
